About Tammy
Tammy brings a unique set of skills with her, and they make her especially suited to manage the care and well being of pets while at Creature Comfort Inn. A lifelong animal lover, she assisted a veterinarian while studying to become a veterinary technician. She is experienced working with and caring for exotic animals, such as reptiles and birds and has provided a foster home for dogs and large birds as well as emergency care for large animals, such as horses, cows and sheep.
Tammy and her husband are both certified Emergency Medical Technicians, volunteering with the Fortsmouth Volunteer Fire Department since 1998. As well, Tammy volunteers with the Virginia German Shepherd Rescue group, which is where she found her shepherd, Naiah. Tammy and her family have another dog named Zoe, a miniature Australian Shepherd, and one cat.
Tammy continues her studies in animal care on-line and holds a certificate in animal care as well as a certification in Pet First Aid and CPR through the American Red Cross.
Boarding Philosophy
The philosophy at the Creature Comfort Inn is simple: To provide a comfortable and safe environment for pets while away from home.
While there is no place like home, Creature Comfort Inn comes pretty close. Every boarding dog gets to be outside three to four times a day, either for a romp in one of the exercise areas or a walk with one of the staff. Many kennels feel they should charge extra to walk a dog; at Creature Comfort Inn, it’s the standard of care!
Dog Training
Creature Comfort Inn’s other specialty is dog training and owner education. Since 1974, the business has established and directed training programs for the Montgomery County Maryland Humane Society, working with clients and their pets in the home and in the kennel. At Creature Comfort Inn, hundreds of dog-handler teams have been trained for AKC obedience titles, agility, search and rescue, tracking, personal protection and Schutzhund competition.
